Posted under Film, News, Photo, Switchbox

Here are a few stills from our first day of shooting Switchbox. John snapped these while the cast read through their lines before shooting began.

Switchbox Goes Green

Posted under Film, News, Switchbox

It looks like Switchbox has gotten the green light as the summer production for Voodoo Studios. We’ve discussed the script some more and decided that for the most part it is ready to go. Of course there may be some minor tweaks here and there, but we’ve essentially got a shoot-able script right now. Here’s a rundown on what’s happening…

We’re working out some logisitcs on the box. The box is obvioulsy critical to the project, but I have a good feeling that John’s vision of it will blow you away.

John and I are talking to some actors who, luckily for us, don’t have any clue what they might be getting themselves into.

Hank and and I are both working on getting us access to some more tunes – there’s some promising stuff in the works in my opinion that should fit nicely with Switchbox.

This weekend we hope to do some on book camera tests just to see how some of the stuff reads on ‘film’.

Script Excerpt Posted for Switchbox

Posted under Film, Switchbox

It’s difficult to find a good excerpt to post for Switchbox because there’s just so much that we’re trying to keep secret on that one. Nevertheless, I picked out a small little excerpt for you and posted it on the scripts page. Here’s a direct link to the .pdf.

Switchbox First Draft

Posted under Film, Switchbox

So maybe it’s only been 6 hours or so since my last post about the brainstorming meeting, but I have since finished the first draft of the short script for Switchbox.  I don’t want to give away any secrets right now, but I think it turned out pretty well.  I thought I’d have a hard time writing it and I had to deal with a pretty major block right at the beginning, but things started flowing eventually.

The first draft may be far from the final version, but at least we’ve got something to start with.  After a few tweaks and updates, it might be ready to hand off to you lucky readers and potential cast and crew memebers.

Don’t forget, check out our volunteer page to see how you can help some starving artists get their film off the ground.

Brainstorm Meeting 1 – Switchbox

Posted under Film, Spectacularity, Switchbox

We had our first official meeting tonight of the key Voodoo Studios players.  We discussed more options for scripts than you can shake a snake at, and all in all had a very productive time.  Interestingly for me though, I think the most popular idea is one of the hardest scripts to write, so I have my work cut out for me, but if we pull it off it will be amazing.  I don’t know how I could possibly lead a meeting like this one and end up getting myself such a tough job.

We also did a table read on a completed short script called Spectacularity.  It was nice hearing the lines read aloud so that we know how they might come off in a real filming situation.  I dig the script even more now and it will be a great second choice for us if I can’t get my mind wrapped around Switchbox which is shaping up to be a nice little psychological thriller.

Now I just have to write it.
